La casa de las Estrellas is een kleinschalige rescue op Lanzarote waar de honden in huiselijke kring mogen leven. Ze leven allemaal samen zonder tralies. Daarnaast lopen er ook nog schapen en geiten rond.

Hi, I am Liala. My Life with animals started really early. I was just 4 years old when my father rescued a monkey, such a popular PET in the 80's. Yes, I grow Up with a monkey like brother. My sensibility has always been more into animals than into others things. But than Life IS something different and the university first, the job later pushed me in to the daily Rush. I always had a PET at my place a stray dog or a Cat and I was volunteering for animal shelters every free minuts of my Life. I was helping mostly aggressive dogs and I was educated them to be suddenly adopted. Just before the COVID I rented a place in the desert of Lanzarote. The Idea was reforming the old House and build a bed and breakfast with the monthly fee of my old job. The COVID surprised me and I Lost my job. With no more incoming, living in an old, totally destroyed and off grid House with no electricity I tought that my Life was completely Lost. It was a really complicated period where just my 3 dogs and my 3 Cats were my company and my relief but I never Lost my Will to help the animals.
I still remember the day that a friend of mine called me and ASKED me to help with 2 babies goats that were going to be killed. I took them home. One of them was really sick and I started to search for a vet to help. They were all laughing at me as It was "just" a goat. When I managed to find someone willing to help was already too late and the little goat died. This sad story touched my heart so deeply that I started to look at farm animals on a different way and I started to help as much as I could. Soon the dream of building a bed and breakfast was forgotten and the numbers of animals was so high that I had to give a more realistic sight to my project. In that moment "La casa de las estrellas" born. It was already 5 years ago. On the beginning the idea was help the animal with no other opportunities, all that being that are still considered like object. Soon I had to open my Doors to dogs and other more commons pets. Aggressive dogs, dogs that were going to put to sleep just for a space Matter in a shelter, etc. Thousands of sad stories made me understand that I could make the difference in the Life of lots of them. Since when I started this project I managed to save more than one thousand lifes and at the moment I host more than 200 hundreds animals. I costantly organize meeting at the schools or project to show The animals as sensitive beings. I am sure that It is really important to save a Life but if we teach with the example we can save even more. The recent storm in Lanzarote destroyed part of my project but I am costantly working hard to rebuilt It even better.
